Hamilton’s arena is getting a major facelift this year and is aiming to reopen in its new form in Fall 2025.
The arena currently known as FirstOntario Centre and previously known as Copps Coliseum will receive significant upgrades thanks to a $280 million planned renovation by partners Oak View Group, Hamilton Urban Precinct Entertainment Group, and Live Nation.
“The NEW Hamilton Arena will be the centerpiece of a premier music, sports, and live entertainment destination in Southwestern Ontario, delivering a premium event and hospitality experience for all,” reads a note on the Hamilton Arena Project website.
“Boasting 18,000 seats, state-of-the-art technology, and unparalleled programming expertise, the new Hamilton Arena is set to become a more competitive player in attracting the world’s leading touring artists.”
Promised as part of the renovation are a completely reimagined façade; premium seating areas; improved sightlines; upgraded concourses; enhanced acoustics; and new clubs, suites, and artist lounges.
There will also be an upgraded food & drink program featuring partnerships with local food vendors, restaurant collaborations, and guidance by leading food and wine expert Christian Navarro.
No word yet as to whether or not the Hamilton Bulldogs will return once the renovation is complete.
