5 great cars for downtown Hamilton

Toyota Yaris (2015)
Why?
It’s inexpensive, with the 3-door (including hatchback) model starting at just $14,545. It’s fuel efficient, only burning an amazingly low 7.8 litres per 100 city kilometres. It has room for the whole family with five seats. It’s got a CD and USB input and Bluetooth built in.

Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid (2015)
Why?
Starting at $35,755, this is on the higher end for a five-passenger car, but it can run on electric-only power for short distance commutes. As well, on EV mode, you’re getting 100 city kilometres on just 2.6 litre of gas; 4.7 litres when on hybrid mode. Not to mention it fits the whole family, has built-in navigation, a backup camera, and XM satellite radio. And it plugs in to a standard electrical outlet.

Honda CR-Z (2015)
Why?
You’re living an exciting downtown life, so you probably want to drive an exciting downtown car. The CR-Z is the sexiest hybrid you’ll find starting at just $22,810. The manual model gets you 100 combined (city/highway) kilometres on just 6.9 litres. For some novelty, push the S+ button and get an acceleration boost for up to 5 seconds.

Volkswagon Beetle (2015)
Why?
It’s cool. You’d be driving a Bug–the small car that popularized small cars. Only burning 9.6 litres per 100 city kilometres (automatic), you can go a long way with the Beetle which starts at just $19,990. Plus, you’d be driving a bug.

Mini Cooper (2015)
Why?
Interestingly, it’s one of the sexiest cars in the world even though the design hasn’t change much in years–neither has its reputation. The 2015 5-door rings in as low as $22,240 and gets 8.5 litres per 100 city kilometres.
