A brand new film school has opened in Hamilton

For those looking to learn about everything from screen acting to film editing to directing, a brand new film school has officially launched in Hamilton.

The Hamilton School of Media Arts, founded by the Hamilton Film Festival, has taken up residence within the beautiful new Ancaster Memorial Arts Centre at 357 Wilson Street East.

In its inaugural season, the school offers a mix of classes, workshops, and talks with opportunities for all ages and experience levels to dive into the exciting, multifaceted world of filmmaking and media.

Programs are led by industry professionals working actively in the Hamilton area and well beyond, including filmmaker Terrance Odette, actor Jessica Clement, animator Patricio Munoz, cinematographer Michael Penney, and television puppeteer Benton Lowe among others.

The diverse range of classes and workshops are a fun, stimulating way to gain knowledge and hands-on experience in numerous filmmaking disciplines, and the Hamilton School of Media Arts is an exciting new addition to a city that’s becoming a booming hub for Canadian filmmaking.
