A new board game cafe has opened on James North

A hotly-anticipated new board game café has finally opened its doors in Hamilton.

The Bard and Bear, located at 237 James Street North, officially opened to the public in mid-December with a library of well over 800 game titles in all genres in to appease players of pretty much any age or preference.

On top of that, they launched a straightforward menu of drinks like coffee, espresso, tea, and hot chocolate as well as café bites and shareable snacks like sandwiches, soups, chips and dip, popcorn, ice cream, and more.

Though a new surge in COVID-19 cases has forced The Bard and Bear to close its café to in-person patrons for a while, they’ve pivoted temporarily to simply offering takeaway of their menu as well as selling games for retail.

Still, this spot has already been warmly embraced by the local community, and there’s no doubt The Bard and Bear will be filled to the brim with game players once it’s safer again.
