A small-batch craft distillery is opening in Hamilton

Do you enjoy gin or go wild over whiskey? You’re in luck: Hamilton will soon see a brand new craft distillery open in the city.

The Hamilton Distillery Company Limited (HDCL) promises small batch spirits using quality Canadian ingredients and a “farm to flask” approach to distilling that marries tradition with an eye for the contemporary.

Tradition and history seem to be important to the Hamilton Distillery Company, who trace the origins of distilling in Hamilton back to the late 1880s while making it clear that the new spirits crafted by the HDCL will honour that history.

Though an opening date for the distillery has yet to be revealed, the HDCL says that their eventual facility will be a “destination distilling experience for Hamilton,” featuring both the distillery’s own craft spirits as well as alcohol-free, cannabis-infused cocktails.

Upon its opening, the HDCL will be in good company with the existing Collective Arts Distillery: a relatively recent addition to the city that builds off of Collective Arts Brewing and crafts small-batch gin and canned cocktails.
