Ambitious Realty’s new office opens to Proud Hamiltonians

Five years in the making, Ambitious Realty Advisors celebrated the grand opening of their beautifully designed offices at 180 James Street South. Ambitious actually only started business six months ago, I say five years because that’s how long the Broker of Record Derek Doyle has had this goal written down.
“Everyone has goals but I don’t think everyone writes their goals down. And I’ve made a point for over six years to write every goal down,” he said.
Doyle started as an agent for Royal LePage in 2009 before leaving to start Ambitious Realty in May with partners Joe Accardi and Anthony Quattrociocchi.
“My goal from day one of starting in real estate was to start my own brokerage. I never intended to remain working in a company.”
However, Doyle (28) thought it would have taken closer to ten years for him to realize this dream. For his success, he credits his supportive friends and colleagues. “I could only do that because of the team I have.”
Doyle has had his eyes set on downtown for awhile, but he says he grew weary when the company he worked for didn’t seem to see the same potential he did.
“I spent almost five years at Royal LePage, a big national company, 300 realtors in Hamilton alone. And that was a great place for me to start and learn the ropes,” said Doyle. “I reached a certain point in my career where I felt the support I needed wasn’t there, but also, I felt that the support that was available wasn’t the direction I was going.”
Doyle stuck with downtown, and committed himself, starting his workday at 5:00 a.m. and working many late nights.
He says he didn’t really play on competitive sports teams growing up and was a self-described average student. However, he speaks highly of working competitively, having discipline and checking his gut. “My gut instinct right now, I think, is about 99 per cent accurate.”
Opening this new office was a gut decision for he and his partners. When Doyle, Accardi and Quattrociocchi looked at the space, they decided they were going to completely demolish it to the walls and build 15 offices, 20 work stations, 2 boardrooms and a 75-seat presentation space… and they did it. Oh, and at that time, Doyle was the only registered realtor with the company.
“We knew if we built this, they would come,” said Doyle. And now, six months in, eight new realtors have come to join the Ambitious Team.
Now, the glass-walled office is complete, and in two days more than 300 people passed through to help them celebrate.
“Everyone coming in here says ‘This feels like Toronto. This feels like New York. This feels like Chicago,’ and I say, ‘No, it doesn’t. This is Hamilton,’ and then I slap a ‘Proud Hamiltonian’ sticker on them.”
Doyle, who almost left Hamilton several years ago, says he’s happy he stayed. He’s happy to convert Torontonians, happy to work with such a great team, and be part of such a supportive community.
