After a three-year hiatus, a major annual tradition in Stoney Creek is making its return.
Each year, a re-enactment of the Battle of Stoney Creek – which took place on June 6th, 1813 – is hosted on the grounds of Battlefield House Museum & Park as a free-of-charge public event, with this year’s planned on Saturday, June 3rd and Sunday, June 4th.
The Re-enactment of the Battle of Stoney Creek will offer the Indigenous community an expanded voice while commemorating the 1813 event that helped turn the tide of the War of 1812. #HamOnt #StoneyCreek #History #INDIGENOUShttps://t.co/kUhq4DaQRu pic.twitter.com/axQ8aeNba3

This chance to dive into a key part of Canadian history and heritage is accompanied by vendors, food & drink, live entertainment, games, and a firework display that caps off the event.
Due to the pandemic, the Battle of Stoney Creek re-enactment was cancelled in 2020, 2021, and 2022, finally making its full return after a considerable gap.
A notable change to this year’s event is the first-time inclusion of Indigenous voices and programming, including a narrated ‘Great Peace Game’ of Haudenosaunee Lacrosse and a sharing of Gada:tro (or, Standing Quiver Dance) and the Smoke Dance on the battlefield prior to each re-enactment on June 3rd.
The Battle of Stoney Creek Re-enactment takes place on Saturday, June 3rd from 10 am to 10 pm; and Sunday, June 4th from 10 am to 4:30 pm.
