One of East Hamilton’s gems for coffee, cocktails, bites, and live events has announced that it will be closing up shop.
Ward IV has become an east end favourite since opening in 2019, serving up all sorts of deliciousness sourced locally while hosting live music, comedy, poetry slams, art exhibitions, markets, tasting events, and much more.
However, after a few years of well-earned success and some major obstacles overcome, Ward IV owner Sara Kupferschmidt has announced that she will be closing 1441 Main Street East space at the end of February.
“We made it through some tumultuous times (covid) but it has taken its toll on my work/life balance,” wrote Kupferschmidt on social media.
“I put my whole heart into it but my family has suffered. I have to choose to be more present for them. I know this was going to be a great year here which makes this all the more difficult.”
While the physical café and bar space is closing, this is not the end of Ward IV itself; the business will still stick around in the form of pop-ups and other initiatives.
