Chicago Style Pizza brings the best stuffed pizza and more to Hamilton

Chicago stuffed pizza is a particularly unique indulgence, and a family-run Italian restaurant in Hamilton is making pies that rival those in the Windy City. They even offer their own delivery!

Chicago Style Pizza at 534 Upper Sherman Ave has been a Hamilton staple since 1975, known for its homestyle Italian food from pastas to pizzas to salads and more. As the name would suggest, the Chicago stuffed pizza is one of the biggest draws. 

Few Hamilton pizzerias even attempt the indulgent style, and of those that do, Chicago Style Pizza is widely considered the best in the game. 

The authenticity is no coincidence: long before opening their Hamilton restaurant, the Delle Grazie family immigrated from Southern Italy with some landing in Chicago and others in Hamilton. Two Illinois transplants – Vito and Grace – opened Vito’s Pizzeria in Chicago in 1946, later selling it to brother Joe who moved from Hamilton to Chicago and changed the name to Vito and Joe’s Pizzeria in 1966. 

The family sold the restaurant in 1974 and moved back to Hamilton, purchasing the Pizza Shack on Upper Wellington in 1975 and incorporating their Chicago pizza traditions, changing the name to Chicago Style Pizza Shack.

The restaurant moved to Upper Sherman in 1983, where it remains today with a decades-long popularity. It’s not uncommon to see lines out the door at this Hamilton Mountain classic. 

Guests are greeted with a warm interior serving homestyle Italian comforts like gnocchi, chicken parmigiana, Fettuccine Alfredo, stracciatella soup, lasagna, and meatball subs. 

Though the restaurant makes great traditional pies, it’s hard to resist experiencing the stuffed pizzas. Even a small pie is hearty enough to feed multiple people: a layer of dough fills the sides and bottom of a deep dish pan, then loaded with heaps of gooey cheese, zesty red sauce, and fresh toppings. 

Best of all, locals don’t have to wait in line to get their hands on one. Chicago Style has begun offering delivery between Dundurn St and Gage Ave, Burlington St to Aberdeen Ave, and the Mountain at a flat rate of $5.95. Order online and have it brought to your door!
