Community Charity Airshow

This summer, Hamilton’s Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum (CWHM) and The Rotary Club of Brantfords Community Charity Airshow will take place on Wednesday, August 30th at the Brantford Municipal Airport.

Rotary Club of Brantford President Sherry Kerr and David Rohrer CEO of CWHM, are co-chairs for the event which will be a fundraiser for both organizations. CWHM has previously held airshows at the Hamilton International Airport but with an increase in scheduled flights, it is no longer a viable host airport.

CEO David Rohrer said “I look forward to working with Rotary Brantford to continue the support for Brantford children’s charities”. A “Fundraising Dinner with the Pilots’ is being held on Tuesday, August 29th with proceeds targeted at supporting the Airshow.

Participation from the Canadian Forces continues this year with the 431 Air Demonstration Squadron Snowbirds flying their Canadair Tutors in a breathtaking aerial display with their 9 strong aircraft team. An added attraction this year is a Snowbird airplane decorated in special Canada 150 themed markings.

Continuing the celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the CWHM Lancaster bomber will appear for its only solo airshow performance in “the special 2017 only” markings of “Ruhr Express”. Ruhr Express was the first Canadian built Lancaster flown to Europe in World War II.

The Wednesday afternoon airshow is set to be a fun family outing with a wide variety of acts that display aircraft range from locally based airplanes and aerobatic flying to the internationally known Lancaster bomber and other current and former military aircraft.

The Airshow would not be possible without a contingent of volunteers and this year is no different. People interested in volunteering for the Airshow should  email the volunteer coordinator on the contact page of the website.

The gates open for The Community Charity Airshow, August 30th at the Brantford Municipal Airport at 11:00 A.M and flying is scheduled from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M.

While the airshow is a free event, parking is $20.00 and donations are gratefully appreciated.
