Construction set to begin for Hamilton’s Confederation GO Station

At long last, construction is beginning on Hamilton’s forthcoming Confederation GO Station.

The Ontario government has announced the start of constructing this new Hamilton transit centre, which will join the Hamilton GO Centre and West Harbour GO Station as a local means of efficient intercity public transportation.

The station is set to feature an island platform with canopies and an accessible platform, a pedestrian tunnel, stair access from the platform to Centennial Parkway, approximately 150 additional parking spaces, and a 15-vehicle area for passenger pickup and drop-off.

The new Confederation GO Station will help support a more fully integrated transit infrastructure and, over time, increase service opportunities between Toronto and Niagara Falls.

“Hamilton has seen significant growth as a destination to live, work, and play in, which requires more transit options to support residents and visitors alike,” said Hamilton’s Mayor Fred Eisenberger.

“We are extremely pleased to see the Government of Ontario and Metrolinx prioritize the building of the Confederation GO station, which will better link East Hamilton, Stoney Creek and the entire Golden Horseshoe area with more choice and better access to and from our community.”
