Employee at Walmart in Ancaster tests positive for COVID-19

An employee working at a Walmart location in Ancaster was found to test positive for COVID-19, according to reports from the superstore chain.

The worker, who is employed at the Walmart on Garner Road West, was last present in the store on May 27th. They are now self-isolating at home, as well as any other staff at the location who may have come into close contact.

According to a spokesperson for the company, the Garner Road West location is in contact with – and following the guidelines of – public health officials.

Enhanced cleaning procedures are in place in the superstore at all times, along with other social distancing measures to ensure the continued safety of both Walmart staff and visitors. The store remains open to the public.

This is hardly the first local instance of frontline retail workers contracting the virus. Most recently, a member of the team at a Hamilton Mountain FreshCo on Upper Gage and Fennell tested positive for COVID-19, as did a worker at the Husky gas station on Upper Ottawa.
