Enticing new pub opens in former Brux House space in Hamilton

Hamilton’s newest elevated pub has freshly opened its doors, giving new life to the restaurant space that most recently held the dearly departed Brux House

The Lockesmith is now open for service at 137 Locke Street South, bringing an attractive atmosphere and enticing menu of casual-fine gastropub fare to the table.

While the overall vibe of The Lockesmith feels like a familiar cousin of Brux House, the new public house is a decidedly different entity created by the folks behind other popular Hamilton restaurants like Caro and Victoria’s Steak & Seafood.

With lunch, dinner, and brunch lineups served with a well-curated selection of libations from craft beer to wine to cocktails, The Lockesmith has kept its menu rooted in the familiar while leaning into elevated touches.

Some examples include their eponymous cheeseburger, topped with candy smoked bacon, Swiss cheese, and tomato jam on a house-made bun; the duck confit pie which loads that duck into puff pastry with carrots, peas, cabbage, and madeira sauce; or the house-made ravioli with brown butter, sage, Pecorino Romano, and pistachio.

But that barely skims the surface of The Lockesmith’s offerings, which also include snacks, appetizers, salads, desserts, and even a daily curry feature.

The Lockesmith already appears to be a fitting successor to Brux House and we can’t wait to get our first tastes!
