Hamilton announces funny finalists for ‘Name the Plow’ contest

The City of Hamilton has announced the 20 finalists for the 2025 ‘Name the Plow’ initiative which sees city snow plows given fun, funny, and unique names as suggested and voted on by residents.

Submissions for name ideas opened earlier in December, and now, a committee has narrowed down a list of 20 contenders to be voted on by the public.

The creative names on this year’s list include Don’t Flurry, Be Happy; Gordie Plow; Melton John; Brow Plow; Chillin’ Dylan; Snowbi Wan Kenobi; Andreychuk The Snow; Spready Mercury; Icekee Waa Waa; Scoop Dogg; Upper Plowadise; Thaw Patrol; Mountain Plow Blvd; Eugene Sleddy; Sleetwood Mac; Blizzard of Oz; Buzz Iceclear; Ice to Meet You; Austin Plowers; and Snow Problem.

Locals can visit engage.hamilton.ca/nametheplow to cast their vote for their favourite plow name from now until January 5th.

After that, a list of 10 winning names will be announced the week of January 13th, and those names will be officially added to the exterior of 10 snow plows in the city’s fleet.

What’s your favourite name suggestion? Let us know in the comments and go vote!
