Hamilton’s beloved OHL hockey team might be making the move to Brantford for a few years.
The Hamilton Bulldogs are considering an agreement with the City of Brantford for the team to temporarily relocate to the Brantford Civic Centre for their home games while Hamilton’s FirstOntario Centre undergoes a major renovation.
A release from the City of Brantford reveals that a special meeting will be held on February 7th with Brantford city council to consider a proposal that would see Brantford entering an agreement with the Bulldogs that would also see the team temporarily rebranded as the Brantford Bulldogs.

The move to the Brantford Civic Centre, however, is contingent on the arena receiving roughly $7.5 million in upgrades to meet the standards of the OHL as well as its fans and players.
If moving the Hamilton Bulldogs to Brantford is a go, it could see Hamilton’s hockey team relocate to Telephone City for a potential three seasons.
“I am very excited about the prospect of bringing an OHL team to Brantford,” said Brantford’s Mayor Kevin Davis.
“A partnership with an established OHL franchise will reinforce the image of Brantford as a renowned sport-friendly city, as well as enhance the perception of the city as active, vibrant, and attractive to future investment, especially surrounding the downtown core.”
