One of Hamilton’s most popular coffee roasters and cafes will be closing its original stand in the Hamilton Farmers’ Market.
RELAY Coffee Roasters has been a stalwart staple of the Hamilton Farmers’ Market for more than a decade, serving up hand-crafted coffee, espresso, tea, and pastries at their iconic stand on the market’s upper level.
The coffee business has grown brilliantly in the years to follow, with RELAY opening its own dedicated cafés on King William Street and within the Staircase Theatre on Dundurn Street North, as well as a Hamilton Mountain café on Concession that has since closed down.
Through all of this exciting growth, RELAY held tight to its market roots and, though it’s hard to imagine the market without them, the coffee roaster has announced that they will be saying goodbye to their scrappy flagship.
“We’ve held on to our sweet spot at the Farmers’ Market longer than was wise, from a business standpoint, due to our deep connection to the space, and because of the relationships we’ve built there over the years,” wrote RELAY Coffee in a post on social media.
“We want to thank all of you, who have been patrons of our flagship spot for RELAY over the past 12 years. Thank you for your over-the-counter banter and conversation. Thank you for marveling at our pour-over bar on Saturdays where we would have 8 coffees being made to order at one time. Thank you for picking up your small-batch roasted beans and for supporting your local community.”
RELAY Coffee’s stand in the Hamilton Farmers’ Market will officially close on Saturday, December 24th.
