From local farmers to lunch vendors to small-batch producers and more, the Hamilton Farmers’ Market has long been one of the city’s most popular food destinations; and they’ve got lots going on this holiday season.
Locals can enjoy extended market hours just before the holidays, so last-minute shoppers can pop by on Monday, December 23rd, 9 am to 5 pm; and Tuesday, December 24th, 9 am to 4 pm before the market closes for Christmas on December 25th and 26th.
There’s plenty happening before then too! On Friday, December 20th, pop by for the Punk Rock Flea Market from 12 pm to 7 pm as a great way to finish off your gift list with unique handmade finds – clothing, decor, and beyond – by local makers and artists.
It’s just one event in the market’s 12 Days of Merriment all through December, which includes free events like live music, craft workshops, kids’ activities, and more.
While you browse the dozens of excellent market vendors, enjoy Lunchtime Concerts on December 4th to 6th, 11th to 13th, and 18th to 19th from 12:30pm to 1:30pm featuring fantastic local musicians playing seasonal tunes and beyond. There will even be a special Kids’ Concert by My Friend Christopher on December 14th at 10:30am.
It wouldn’t be the holidays without a visit from Santa Claus, and the merry man will make a special appearance for free photos at the market on December 7th from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
But that’s not all! If you’re feeling crafty, the market is hosting Wreath Workshops by Hamilton florist I Fiori on December 7th and 14th at 1 pm, which cost $120 per person and can be signed up for at ifiori.ca. There will also be a fun Ornament Craft activity hosted by Rivers & Meadows Creative Studio on December 21st between 10 am and 2 pm.
Additionally, enjoy holiday activations in the market all December long including ‘Find Jeanie! Draw Jeanie!’ which lets kids hunt through the market, spot an adorable stuffed polar bear named Jeanie who will be moving around the market all month, and use their inner artist to draw Jeanie and submit their artwork for a chance to win Jeanie herself!
If you’re looking to shop local for the holidays, the Hamilton Farmers’ Market is a great place to do it; and your visit will be rewarded by lots of special events all through December.
