Hamilton Farmers’ Market launches new Local Showcase initiative

It’s never been a more important time to support local, and a creative initiative launched this year by the Hamilton Farmers’ Market leans firmly into that idea.

The Hamilton Farmers’ Market has long been one of the city’s prime spots to pick up the best in locally farmed, foraged, cooked, baked, and crafted goods from food products to clothing and more made by a wide variety of local and regional vendors and artisans.

Now, the Market is pushing that further with their Local Showcase: a new initiative on right now and running through to the end of March.

The concept is simple: local farmers, producers, and brands who are not currently part of the Market are given space to do temporary pop-ups in the Market’s lower level.

These temporary vendors will be an exciting way to mix up the Market’s usual offerings, supplementing the permanent vendors with even more fresh, exciting, local products for Market shoppers to check out. You may even discover a new favourite!

“The goal of this event is to promote and celebrate the Hamilton Farmers’ Market while also drawing in new customers who already shop and support local,” says the Hamilton Farmers’ Market.

“The majority of showcase participants will be well-established local businesses with brand recognition and their own followings, some of those are also excited to be inside and warm during the Winter!”

Multiple Hamilton-area vendors will be present on a given day, and the diverse array of attractive small businesses already confirmed includes West Avenue Cider, Humble Bee, Foundry ice Cream, Plan B Organic Farms, Summit Station Dairy, Caribb Pop, Grain & Grit Brewing, and ZEG Sauces.

More vendors will be added to the lineup as the initiative continues, and Hamilton-area small businesses who may want to participate are encouraged to email the Hamilton Farmers’ Market at farmers.market@hamilton.ca.

What are you waiting for? Head to the Hamilton Farmers’ Market to check out the Local Showcase, grab a few things from the usual vendors, and feel great about putting your spending money into local pockets!
