In some news worth celebrating, Hamilton has seen zero new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the city since the beginning of this week.
The number of the city’s overall confirmed and probable cases has held steady at 881 total since Monday, with the number of active confirmed cases sitting at just 15 total.
As of this writing, the case numbers were last updated on the City of Hamilton website as of 9 am on Thursday, July 23rd.
Good news on Hamilton’s #COVID-19 front:

This is a notable milestone for the management of COVID-19 by the city and its residents, indicating a solid adherence to public health restrictions and guidelines on the part of Hamiltonians. Hopefully, as mask wearing has now become mandatory for Hamiltonians venturing into public spaces, the city will continue to see strong trends in its management of new COVID-19 cases.
However, this news also comes just as Hamilton finds itself in Stage Three of reopening the local economy: a reopening phase that allows for dine-in restaurants to reopen their interior spaces for guests, and that allows physically distanced gathering limits to increase to 50 people indoor and 100 people outdoors.
As of now, it’s far too early to tell if Stage Three will end up being the gateway to a new spike in local cases; but hopefully, if health and safety guidelines continue to be strictly abided by and masks are worn across the board when necessary, this new phase of reopening won’t set the city back in its progress.
Those health & safety guidelines include frequent hand washing with soap or hand sanitizer, maintaining at least six feet of distance from others in public, staying home if you feel unwell, and only closely socializing with those inside your 10-person social circle.
