If you find yourself hit with a parking fine in Hamilton this holiday season, a new program launched by the city may help you turn it into something with positive impact.
Toys for Tickets is a pilot initiative by the City of Hamilton that gives those with a City-issued parking ticket payable from December 2nd to 6th the chance to resolve it by donating a new, unwrapped children’s toy of equal or greater value.
Donations will directly benefit the United Way Halton and Hamilton as a way of supporting local families over the holidays.

To participate in the initiative, those with a valid parking fine or ticket are invited to bring their new, unwrapped toys along with a receipt that proves its value to the Hamilton Municipal Parking System Office at 80 Main Street West from December 2nd to 6th between 8:30 am and 4 pm.
Only parking tickets issued by the City of Hamilton are valid, and the program does not extend to other types of fines like speeding or red light camera violations.
“The Toys for Tickets program is an inspiring example of Hamiltonians coming together to make a positive impact,” said Hamilton’s Mayor Andrea Horwath.
“This initiative not only provides a unique way to settle parking fines but also directly supports families and children in our community, bringing a little extra joy to their holiday season.”
