A popular Hamilton spot for sushi and more has reopened its Upper James restaurant after a years-long closure due to a fire.
August 8 shared the news of their grand reopening at 1066 Upper James Street on Tuesday, with the restaurant space completely restored and ready to serve their sushi, dim sum, and other tasty Japanese dishes.
The fire took place in November 2022, causing considerable damage to the Upper James restaurant that would cost over $1 million to fix.
With two other Hamilton locations of August 8 – one on Wilson Street in the lower city and another on Paramount Drive in Stoney Creek – it wasn’t clear if the Upper James location would end up making a return at all with such considerable damage.
However, the restaurant is back and hitting the ground running, open for dine-in and takeaway Monday to Saturday from 11:30 am to 11pm and Sunday from 11:30 am to 9:30 pm.
“We’ve been working hard to bring this place back better than ever, and we can’t wait to welcome you all,” reads a post from August 8.
