Hamilton record shop Cheapies has turned into an escape room

After sitting vacant for over 4 years, Hamilton’s dearly departed record store Cheapies is now seeing a new life as an escape room.

Signage has gone up in the windows at the former home of Cheapies at 67 King Street East for Escape Game Entertainment: an escape room complex offering multiple experiences.

The new escape rooms are already open to the public and include four unique offerings: the suspenseful Kidnapped, the nostalgic Jay’s ‘80s Room, the mystical Witches’ Coven, and the Stephen King-inspired Room 1408.

“Escape Game Entertainment brings the thrill of escape rooms to everyone, offering immersive, interactive environments where participants work together to solve puzzles, uncover clues, and beat the clock,” reads a note on the business’ website.

This is the first business to take over 67 King Street East since Cheapies closed its doors back in March 2020 after an impressive 40 years serving Hamilton with affordable records, games, and more.
