Hamilton seeks artists for new Electric City public art project

The City of Hamilton is on the hunt for local visual artists to be commissioned for an exciting new public art project.

The Electric City Public Art Project will be a permanent project brought to life at Confederation Beach Park, intended to honour the impact of AC electric power on Hamilton throughout its history.

Artists and artist-led teams are invited to submit their Stage One proposals for the project, which will first be reviewed by a citizen jury to create a shortlist that will then be revealed to the public for further consultation.

The award for the public art project is $184,000, which will contribute to the selected art piece’s design, fabrication, and delivery to the site. Additionally, artists invited to create a Stage Two submission will receive a $1,500 honorarium.

Submissions to the Electric City Public Art Project are due on Thursday, January 19th at 3 pm. Submission requirements and further details about the project can be found on the city website
