A Hamilton favourite for Colombian food has closed the doors of its original location and setting its sights on a new home.
Calipan Colombian Eatery, formerly located at 191 Ottawa Street North and open since 2016, has become a popular spot for authentic Colombian cuisine with a specialty in breakfast and lunch dishes.
However, after almost 7 years in their Crown Point restaurant, Calipan is looking to relocate after their building was sold and the new owner did not renew their lease.
As a result, the restaurant is temporarily closed as they search for a new home in Hamilton; a process that has not been simple.
“As you may imagine, opening a location requires a lot of effort and making a decision of where to open will have to meet our predetermined requirements,” wrote Calipan in a message on their social media.
“How long we will be closed? Until we find the ideal place.”
Calipan also expresses that they’re taking this opportunity to look for a space that will allow them to offer an “enhanced” experience for the customer base, while continuing to offer the flavourful, affordable Colombian food they’ve become known for.
