“Snow clearing in Hamilton is serious business, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun!”
So reads a message from the City of Hamilton as they reach out to residents for help with naming 10 of the city’s snowplows that will be helping to keep our streets clear and safe through the heaviest of winter months.
This marks the first year of the city’s “Name the Plow” initiative, where locals can submit their family-friendly suggestions for snowplow names via the city website.

Once submissions close, city staff will create as shortlist of 20 potential names later in December and will release those names for the community to vote on their favourites beginning on December 20th.
After that, the selected Top 10 names will be revealed the week of January 9th, 2023, giving the city’s snowplows some unique names for the first time ever.
