Hamilton will be in a heatwave for at least the next week

Stay home and stay hydrated, Hamilton; the nasty heat that’s been plaguing the city these last few days is expected to drag out for another week at least.

The City of Hamilton has issued an extended heat warning for the city as of Saturday July 4th, which will remain in effect until further notice.; and judging by the weekly weather forecast for the city, that heat warning could stay firmly in place for quite some time.

Environment Canada’s weekly weather forecast for Hamilton shows that temperatures will be holding pretty steady throughout the week, hovering just above and below a balmy 30 degrees Celsius each day with lows that don’t dip too deeply below 20 degrees Celsius.

Some welcomed rain forecasted for Saturday July 11th may bring some much-needed respite; but until then, it’s crucial for Hamiltonians to stay as cool as possible.

Locals are advised to ensure they stay hydrated and shaded as much as possible this week, crank those air conditioners, and keep watch on the weather to track when the heat hits more dangerous peaks.

Those who need a place to cool off can also make use of the City of Hamilton’s designated cooling sites, which will give locals a more temperate environment as well as free drinking water.

Continue checking the City of Hamilton website for heat warning updates.
