Hamilton will host FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers

Another major sporting event is coming to Hamilton as the city is set to host the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers this year.

Team Canada will be going head-to-head with the Dominican Republic in a game at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton on July 1st, 2022 at 7 pm. Tickets for the exciting event are already on sale via Ticketmaster.

Due to the pandemic, this will be the first FIBA event hosted in Canada since 2020, the last time being the FIBA AmeriCup Qualifiers in Oshawa, Ontario.

“Hamilton is thrilled to host Canada’s upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifier game at FirstOntario Centre,” said Mayor Fred Eisenberger in a release.

“Hosting the first FIBA event in Canada since 2020 is a tremendous opportunity for our community and basketball fans from all over the region to witness high-level international basketball. We are excited to partner with Canada Basketball and the Canadian Elite Basketball League to create a memorable experience for all competitors, sponsors, officials and fans.”

Tickets for the game at FirstOntario Centre are available for purchase now, and the game will be broadcast live on Sportsnet on July 1st, 2022 at 7 pm.
