Hamilton will see freezing rain today

Take care if you need to travel today, because a storm with freezing rain is expected in the Hamilton area throughout the day.

A warning from Environment Canada states that Hamilton is set to see some heavy rain on Wednesday morning and into the afternoon, with 1 to 4 millimetres of ice build-up from the freezing rain forecasted to hit the city.

Wind gusts up to 70 kilometres per hour are also possible during the rainstorm, which may result in local power outages and damage to outdoor structures, including trees.

Outdoor surfaces including roads, sidewalks, and highways could become slippery, and those who need to travel outdoors today are advised to take caution and allow for extra travel time if possible.

Here’s hoping seasonal storms like this will become fewer and farther between as the city gets flashes of warmer weather leading into a much less gloomy springtime!
