Hamilton youth between the ages of 13 and 19 who use PRESTO Cards to ride local transit will be able to ride for half price through the summer.
The city has launched this initiative, which will run from June to August of this year and will see a 50 per cent discount automatically applied to eligible Hamilton youth on Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) transit beginning on June 1st, 2022.
HSR’s new youth fare promotion makes travelling on transit more affordable this summer. Youth between the ages of 13 and 19 using PRESTO will ride for half the price during the months of June, July and August.

This promotion, valid with student or government issued ID, is a piece of the HSR’s ridership recovery strategy inspired by the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Another initiative as part of this strategy include free HSR rides for children ages 6 to 12 who use PRESTO, which will be in place until April 30th, 2023.
“I’m excited that the City of Hamilton is able to cut fares in half for youth aged 13 to 19 this summer,” said Hamilton’s Mayor Fred Eisenberger.
“With soaring gas prices, transit is an affordable option that connects youth to employment and academic opportunities and enables greater connections with their communities, family and social networks while keeping more money in their pockets.”
