Hamilton’s iconic rockers Arkells took home a big win at the 2023 JUNO Awards.
The Max Kerman-led rock band was awarded Group of the Year at the Juno Opening Night Awards in Edmonton on March 11th, beating out other Canadian music heavyweights like Billy Talent, Arcade Fire, Metric, and the Reklaws.
Group of The Year at @thejunoawards! We played St. John’s, NL last night & all the flights off the rock were cancelled except one. There were only three seats left on the flight so we drew straws. We dedicate this award to our bandmates Tony & Nick who are drinking on George St pic.twitter.com/ptEy6K3ug0

This is hardly Arkells’ first time getting recognized as Group of the Year; in fact, the band has won the honour a record-breaking total of six times to date, including three consecutive wins in the past three years.
They’ve also won in other JUNO Award categories in the past, including Rock Album of the Year in 2015 for High Noon and 2019 for Rally Cry.
The remaining JUNO Award winners for 2023 will be announced live on Monday, March 13th at 8 pm on CBC.
