A longstanding Hamilton spot known for its classic, homestyle German and Austrian food like schnitzel and beyond has sadly announced that it has closed its doors.
Black Forest Inn has been a Hamilton restaurant staple since opening in 1967, located at the corner of King Street East and Ferguson Avenue in the International Village.
The restaurant has been closed for in-person dining through much of the summer as of early July in order to complete renovations, with takeout and the outdoor Bier Garten still open on a reduced basis.
However, it appears Black Forest Inn will not reopen in September as previously announced, with the restaurant now sharing that they will be permanently closed due to financial constraints.
“While we hope this isn’t the end for us, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our valued patrons and customers over the past 55 years,” wrote Black Forest Inn on social media.
“We’ve cherished the joy you brought to our lives and hope we’ve been able to do the same for you.”

07.09.2024 3:09 pmMassively disappointed, my family has been going to this restaurant since it opened, tragically it appears the new owners have destroyed this loved establishment. Hard to believe as when Wolfgang and Gabi owned it the place was packed with customers. Since they left the staff has changed and the new staff look demoralized. Hopefully someone can come along and re open the restaurant.
