Looks like Hamiton’s iconic Black Forest Inn won’t be fully reopening its doors after all.
Shortly after the German and Austrian restaurant shared early September news that it would be permanently closing after a summer hiatus, Black Forest Inn pivoted a mere few weeks later and shared that they would in fact be reopening fully for dine-in on October 9th.
However, in a strange turn of events, Black Forest Inn has walked back this announcement in a post shared to Facebook on Tuesday, October 8th.
“It is with great regret that we announce the permanent closure of the Black Forest Inn due to unforeseen financial challenges,” wrote the restaurant.
“Despite our best efforts to bring back the establishment you’ve cherished for the past 55 years, we are unable to move forward at this time.”
Black Forest Inn has been a Hamilton restaurant staple for over half a century, known for their traditional takes on German dishes like schnitzel and beyond.
If circumstances change at any point, the restaurant will share the news on their social media; but for now, they’re bidding farewell to Hamilton.
“We kindly ask for your understanding, as this is a difficult time for all our staff and management.”
