Hamilton’s Carmens Group acquires Beamsville winery The Good Earth

A prominent Hamilton hospitality and events company has acquired one of Beamville’s best wineries and restaurants.

Carmens Group – the company behind Hamilton spots like Baci Ristorante, Carmens Event Centre, and the Hamilton Convention Centre by Carmens – has shared the news that they’ve purchased The Good Earth Food & Wine Co. in Beamsville.

This marks another large venture outside of Hamilton for Carmens Group including their recent purchase the Arlington Hotel in Paris.

The Good Earth first opened their farm in 1998 and have since grown into a popular destination in wine country both for their terrific wine and their restaurant that specializes in local, seasonal, farm-to-table cuisine.

Under this new ownership, wine production will continue to be steered by winemaker Ilya Senchuk, who is also the winemaker behind Stoney Creek’s Leaning Post Wines. The culinary program will also still be headed by Chef Andrew Thorne and Sous Chef Mike Gareau.

Carmens Group also plans to increase event capacity at The Good Earth, including building an outdoor tent to host weddings and other large celebrations. The venue is temporarily closed for renovations until February 14th.
