A Hamilton favourite for gourmet donuts is not saying goodbye to the city after all.
Donut Monster broke hearts with their March announcement that the business – which has served up unique flavours of donuts and fritters for a decade – would be closing up at their 246 Locke Street South storefront.
However, there was a potential silver lining: Donut Monster’s original ownership expressed their hopes that the business could potentially be saved by a new ownership structure or partnership.
Thankfully, that wish came true. After the closing announcement caused a massive stir, Donut Monster has found a new owner; the shop will remain open after all with the same staff remaining as part of the team.
“The new owners are a partnership between the operators of a beloved community focused small cafe brand from Nova Scotia and Hamilton based individuals with a wealth of experience in the coffee and cafe industry,” wrote Donut Monster in a social media post.
“They are excited to take the reins and carry on right where we are leaving off, to grow the business and build on the foundations we have laid over the last 10 years.”
Further details will be shared in the coming weeks, but for now, locals are celebrating the fact that this local favourite is here to stay after all!
