Electric Diner – Hamilton’s vibrant ‘80s themed diner – is going through some big changes as they prepare to close their original location in Hess Village.
The closure, which will see the location’s final service happen on January 26th, is an effort to position the brand for long-term growth and expansion with an eye on new markets.
This doesn’t mean Electric Diner is moving on from Hamilton: their popular Lister Block location at the corner of James North and King William Street will remain open to serve the same creative diner-style menu and playful atmosphere locals love about the restaurant, in a setting that will serve as the flagship model for future expansion.
Electric Diner’s CEO and owner Erika Puckering is quick to express that the decision to close their original location was not an easy one, but important for the diner’s continued growth.
“It allows us to focus on the continued success of our James Street location while positioning the Electric Diner brand to grow into new markets,” says Puckering. “The proximity of the two locations meant we were competing with ourselves, and this shift will allow us to deliver the same great experience while strategically expanding our reach.”
Executive chef and owner Jamie Ewing adds his gratitude to the locals who have been avid supporters of Electric Diner since the beginning.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the Hess Village community and all the guests who made memories with us at that location,” he says. “We invite everyone to visit us at James Street, where we’ll continue to serve up the Electric Diner experience they love.”
The Electric Diner team plans to announce further ventures in the coming year.
