Cherry loops and walnut crunches are getting so close, we can almost taste them.
Hamilton favourite Grandad’s Donuts – closed temporarily two months ago for some transformative renovations – has hinted that a reopening date is fast approaching.
Shuttered since March 12th, Grandad’s has been undergoing some upgrading and expansion of their James North storefront, increasing capacity to meet the hot demand for their legendary, classic donuts.

“Things are happening! Grand opening date… coming soon!” wrote Grandad’s in a post on their social media, which was met with an outpouring of response from locals who can’t wait to claim a delicious dozen or two after weeks of absence.
While the full scope of the renovations remains to be seen, one notable new feature is a pick-up window built into Grandad’s front façade: an undoubtedly useful feature for customers swinging by for pre-orders and quick stops.
Anticipating the reopening, Grandad’s is also currently hiring for a number of new positions, including front-of-house, bakers, and decorators.
We’ll be watching Grandad’s Donuts like a hawk and waiting in anticipation for the day they reopen those doors!
