One of Hamilton’s best known go-kart tracks – the oldest one in Canada – has sadly announced that it is closing up shop after an impressive 66 years in business.
Lakeland Kartway has been a fixture of the Hamilton beachfront by Confederation Park for decades, offering locals of all ages the chance to drive a speedy go-kart around a twisty outdoor track.
However, the 80 Van Wagners Beach Road attraction has shared news to social media that they will be closing permanently after the Thanksgiving long weekend.
“As Canada’s oldest go-kart track we have had the privilege of serving Hamilton, Burlington and other surrounding communities for nearly 3 generations,” wrote Lakeland Kartway on Facebook.
“On many occasions, numerous customers who bring their own children and grandchildren go-karting, have commented that they themselves go-karted at Lakeland Kartway as children. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our loyal customers for your decades of support.”
Lakeland Kartway will be open – weather permitting – for one last ride on the tracks this Thanksgiving weekend on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
