Sharpen those skates: Hamilton’s outdoor skating rinks are officially open for 2024.
Open to the public as weather permits, these rinks are maintained and supervised by city staff and are free of charge for residents to access for some fun, recreational skating time.
This year’s skating rinks are at the Bernie Morelli – Serafini Family Outdoor Ice Pad, Dundas Driving Park, Freelton Community Park, and Waterdown Memorial Park.
Staff are onsite maintaining the ice until 10 pm each night, and the lights shut off at 11 pm. On days with extended periods of weather above 0 degrees, conditions of the ice may require a closure.
In addition to the city-run rinks, multiple Hamilton parks feature community rinks that are operated by volunteer committees including Gage Park, Carter Park, Alexander Park, Macassa Park, T.B. McQuesten Park, Victoria Park, Golf Links Park, and many others.
More information on outdoor skating rinks can be found on the city website.
