Hamilton’s Steeltown Garage is closing its doors

A unique Hamilton spot known for its motorcycle focused apparel and coffee bar has announced that it is closing its physical location.
Steeltown Garage Co. is located at 8 Barton Street East near James North in a headquarters they’ve dubbed ‘The House of Free Spirits’: a place where locals can ride up on their motorcycles, hang out, and grab a latte or Americano.
However, citing insurmountable challenges with operating costs, Steeltown Garage has shared the sad news that their storefront will be closing up as of January 19th after over 7 years open.
“The economic climate over the past year and a half has rendered it impossible to continue,” writes Steeltown Garage in a post on social media.
“Small biz operating costs have climbed substantially over the last 12-16 months here in Southern Ontario and, despite our best efforts, our in-store revenue just couldn’t catch up. It’s not a decision that was made lightly.”
That said, this isn’t the end of Steeltown Garage Co. as a brand, with a new phase of the business forthcoming under new ownership.
