If you were eating lunch at Locke Street soup spot The Burnt Tongue in Hamilton on Monday afternoon, you might’ve had an unexpected run-in with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
That’s because Trudeau and his Liberal cabinet are currently in Hamilton for a total three-day retreat with a focus on strengthening the economy, addressing affordability, and working towards improved health care access.
Accompanied by Filomena Tassi – Liberal MP for Hamilton West, Ancaster, and Dundas – Trudeau paid a visit to The Burnt Tongue’s bustling location on Locke Street to grab some photo ops and, of course, some lunch; we’re dying to know which soup he went for!
Trudeau and Tassi certainly made a strong choice with The Burnt Tongue. The Hamilton staple remains a top choice for its rotating menu of soups, stews, and curries as well as sandwiches, burgers, grilled cheese, and excellent Belgian-style fries.
The Burnt Tongue’s popularity has led to four locations in the Hamilton area, including its flagship on Cannon Street, one on Locke Street, one in Westdale Village, and a more recent addition in Downtown Dundas.
