A longstanding, small shop on the Hamilton Mountain known for its wide array of costumes for rental and purchase is closing the doors of its current location.
Penny Pincher Costumes has been a prime Hamilton costume shop for years, previously located on Ottawa Street North and more recently a resident business of the Concession BIA at 529 Concession Street East for the past five years.
Though most popular at times like Halloween, the shop was a year-round go-to spot to buy or rent affordable costumes, masks, wigs, make-up, and accessories for any number of occasions, from birthdays to Christmas to Easter celebrations to conventions to festivals and beyond.
However, owners Brenda and Terry have sadly closed up shop on Concession as late August and the end of their five-year lease, transitioning Penny Pincher Costumes to a forthcoming format where they’ll be able to serve locals online and in person.
“We want to thank you for the many friendships we have developed and stories we have shared over the years, of serving you, working with you, as our loyal customers, with our costumes and entertainments,” wrote Penny Pincher on Facebook.
No concrete plans have been shared yet for a move to a new location, but locals can follow Penny Pincher Costumes on social media to stay updated.
