Get ready, Hamilton: Canadian celebrity chef, actor, producer, restauranteur, and internet personality Matty Matheson is gearing up to open his first restaurant in the Hammer.
The news comes as part of an announcement from the Hamilton Arena Project and Oak View Group: the leaders behind the current major renovation of the arena formerly known as FirstOntario Centre and, before that, Copps Coliseum.
Matheson will be opening his latest restaurant venture as part of the arena’s revitalization: a sizeable 9,500 square-foot restaurant and speakeasy-style pub called The Iron Cow Public House.
But that’s not all: the Hamilton arena’s concession offerings will also have Matheson’s culinary fingerprints all over them, with menu items available from his other Ontario restaurants including Matty’s Patty’s Burger Club in Toronto and Rizzo’s House of Parm in Fort Erie.
“What Oak View Group is doing here is incredible, and I’m honour to be a part of it,” said Matheson in a release.
“Bringing people together with amazing food, great service and live music – it’s everything I love. We’re building something special for Hamilton, and I’m pumped for you to see this come together.”
More details on The Iron Cow Public House are still to come.
