Jama takes over the position left open by Andrea Horwath, who previously represented Hamilton Centre at Queen’s Park and now serves as Hamilton’s Mayor.
“I know you will take great pride in this new role as you advocate for & represent the people of Hamilton-Centre,” wrote Mayor Horwath in a congratulatory post on Twitter.
“It was an honour for me to serve this riding for 15 years & I look forward to seeing the commitment & passion you’ll bring to the post.”
Congratulations to Sarah Jama on a deserved and historic win!
