New Hamilton location of Mandarin will open this summer

A famous Chinese-Canadian buffet chain is inching closer to opening its second Hamilton location.
Mandarin – with an established Hamilton location on Upper James and over two dozen locations across Ontario – has been getting ready to open a new Hamilton spot at the Centre on Barton for nearly a year.

The sight of a “coming soon” sign in the window at 1223 Barton Street East has been enough to leave locals waiting in anticipation, but there’s been little in the way of updates or movement on the new Mandarin restaurant for months.
However, recently, a new sign was added to the storefront’s window indicating that Mandarin is targeting an August 2023 opening timeframe, meaning a diverse buffet of Chinese-Canadian comfort food may be mere months away for residents of East Hamilton.
