Popular tea room in Waterdown is closing

A Hamilton-area staple for high tea served in a lovely vintage setting has announced its permanent closure.

Waterdown Tea House, located at 297 Dundas Street East in Waterdown, was a passion project for owner Dinah Robert, who fulfilled a lifelong dream to open her own tea house after coming to Canada from England at the age of 18.

The tea room is housed within a gorgeous 1800s vintage home that once functioned as a saddle shop, revived today to feature high tea services complete with finger sandwiches, scones, fresh breads; and of course, loose leaf teas.

However, with Robert looking towards retirement, this Waterdown fixture is set to close its doors as of December 23rd, 2022.

“We wanted to thank our amazing patrons for their loyalty to our little teahouse,” reads a message from Waterdown Tea House.

“This teahouse has been Dinah’s passion and joy and she has loved making this dream a reality. But it is now time to hang up her apron and enjoy time with family and friends.”
