Popular vegan restaurant in Hamilton is closing its doors

A Hamilton favourite for vegan, kosher, and gluten-free food and baked goods has sadly announced that it is closing its doors.

Planted in Hamilton has been a go-to restaurant for plant-based food lovers since it opened its original location on John Street in Corktown Plaza.

The restaurant later moved to its current home at 211 Locke Street South in 2022, bringing with them a stacked menu that includes grain bowls, pastas, salads, sandwiches, brunch plates, and beyond: all made without the use of animal products or gluten.

Planted is also known for their tempting baked goods that also fit that criteria including donuts, cookies, cakes, brownies, and more.

However, a post shared to social media on Christmas Day reveals that Planted in Hamilton is closing after nearly 7 years in business.

“We selected the name Planted in Hamilton to signify, not only our plant-based fare, but the roots we hoped to put down in the community,” wrote Planted in Hamilton on Instagram.

“We wanted to be a place where you gathered, celebrated, caught a quiet moment, or met a friend. We hope that you have at least one noteworthy memory here, as we have so many.”

The restaurant’s last day will be Saturday, December 28th, so head over to pay them one last visit and say goodbye!
