Very few restaurants in Ontario hold the distinction of being awarded a Star by the iconic Michelin Guide; and now, one of those restaurants is a short 30-minute drive from Hamilton.
Restaurant Pearl Morissette – located in Jordan Station in the Beamsville region – was one of a small handful of Ontario restaurants in 2024 to receive a rare Michelin Star: a recognition that denotes exceptional cuisine, service, atmosphere, and consistency between visits.
This also happens to be the first year any restaurants outside of Toronto have received this level of Michelin recognition, with Restaurant Pearl Morissette joined by Oakville fine dining spot Hexagon for the 2024 awards.
The honour is well-earned, too. An extension of the idiosyncratic Pearl Morissette Winery, Restaurant Pearl Morissette focuses its ever-changing tasting menu on locally sourced, raised, grown, and foraged ingredients with a special emphasis on those native to Canada.
Those ingredients are brought to vivid life on the plate by way of fine French cooking techniques, resulting in dishes built to showcase the natural flavours, aromas, and textures of quality, local ingredients.
Not only did Restaurant Pearl Morissette earn a Michelin Star, they jointly earned a Green Star: an award that recognizes restaurants leading the way in sustainable practices with strong ethical and environmental standards.
While no Hamilton restaurants have been awarded a Michelin Star yet, two were freshly recognized by the Michelin Guide in 2024: King William kitchen Berkeley North, which was awarded a Bib Gourmand; and Dundas fine dining restaurant Quatrefoil, which received a recommendation.
