Toronto’s professional lacrosse team will start playing their home games in Hamilton, but will keep their name as is for now.
The announcement was made in a virtual news conference on Tuesday morning and stated that the Toronto Rock, who plays in the National Lacrosse League, will be moving part of the franchise to the Hammer.
First found out about and fell in love with pro lacrosse by attending Ontario Raiders games at Copps Colliseum in Hamilton. Hope to do the same for kids attending @TorontoRockLax games in the same building. pic.twitter.com/q2zjbDpOQz

Home games will be played at the FirstOntario Centre after the Toronto Rock signed a five-year agreement to play home games at the Hamilton arena starting in December.
However, the name Toronto Rock will remain the same despite intense sports rivalries between the two cities.
Rock Owner Jamie Darwick said in a statement that he understands the rivalries, but with the Toronto team being the only one in Ontario, the Toronto Rock represents the whole province.
Although they are currently named the Toronto Rock, the lacrosse team was founded in Hamilton in 1998 as the Ontario Raiders playing at what was then known as Copps Coliseum.
Later, the team was sold to a group of investors who moved the franchise to Toronto and renamed it the Rock.
