This new work is no different, telling a timely story centering a group of IBPOC (Indigenous, Black, People of Colour) youth whose routine escape to a derelict city park is turned upside down when the body of a murdered girl is discovered.
A 90-minute play exploring the ongoing impacts of systemic racism and police brutality, Blackberry is directed by Alison Wong and features a cast of young up-and-coming local talent including Jason Chung, Molly Mutch, Paul Smith, and Rylan Bomberry.
Blackberry runs until August 21st in a site-specific production within Hamilton’s own Carter Park at 32 Stinson Avenue. Tickets and details are available on the Red Betty Theatre website.
