YWCA Hamilton has freshly announced their 2023 Women of Distinction: an annual award that recognizes exceptional women in Hamilton for their efforts to lead, innovate, and empower.
The 2023 awards gala – returning to an in-person format for the first time since the pandemic began – was held on March 2nd to celebrate the 65 exceptional women nominated for this honour.
Of those 65 nominees, 8 winners were announced; including those honoured in specialized categories.

On Thursday, March 2, the community came together to celebrate exceptional women and girls at the 47th annual Women of Distinction Awards, presented by @ArcelorMittal_D!

The 2023 YWCA Women of Distinction include community organizer and artist Marybeth Leis Druery; pediatrician Natasha Johnson; Ph.D. researcher Shaila Jamal; women’s cardiovascular health researcher Sonia Anand; and public relations & outreach specialist Victoria Mancinelli.
Additionally, community leader and volunteer Janice Shearer was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award; fourth year McMaster biomedical engineering student Shayna Earle was named this year’s Young Trailblazer; and Tamika Tulloch – a graduate of the YWCA construction craft work pre-apprenticeship program – was named Honourary Woman of Distinction.
